History
Coolit Ice has been a purveyor of market leading brand of ice for well over 30 years. Our success comes from our one-pointed dedication to strive for the most advanced in technology and the best in service.
- 1972 - Start of Coolit Ice from premises in Khyber Pass Road.

- 1977 - The plant was relocated to its present site at 115 Harris Road, East Tamaki.
- 1983 - The plant underwent its first major upgrade with the automation of the ice manufacturing/handling and bagging. Production capacity was upgraded to 10 tonnes/day. Constant & ongoing upgrades sees the Harris Road Plant as being the largest and most up-to-date Packaged Ice Plant in New Zealand.
- 1988 - Changed the refrigerant that completes the freezing process from CFC compounds to Ammonia. This change in direction was the result of the company’s commitment to protect our environment.
- 1989 - In our quest to be more environmentally friendly, we now use ozone to sanitize our water.
- 1990 - Installation of most up-to-date ice machine from USA, the Vogt P31AL Tube Ice Machine – capable of producing 50 tonnes/day (14,000 standard 3.5kg bags in 24-hour period).
- 2002 - Implement unique numbering of our bagged ice for full tracking of ice from manufacturing to sales.
- 2007 - Installation of four Salted Flake Ice Machines capable of producing 25 tonnes/day.
Hint: Vogt revolutionized the commercial ice-making industry in 1937 when it built the first Tube-Ice Machine.
